Main Purpose of JobSupport Customer Account Managers in driving category growth at one of our largest customer partners, Dollar General.

Assist CAM’s in the fundamental sales processes that drive category growth and achieve annual sales and commercial spend targets. Utilize key data and analytical tools to support key objectives. Work closely with the CAM’s in the development of category driving business plans such as new item presentations, 4P focused initiatives, and other customer presentations. Where appropriate, support the CAM’s in promotional planning and software execution through proper distribution tracking, promotion administration, forecasting, and deduction management.

Category Strategy: Product / brand category objectives

  • Identify insights and specific opportunities based on analysis of category reports generated by internal analytical systems and provide recommendations to the account team
  • Partner with corporate category team to transform shopper insights and 4Ps analytics and insights into action

Customer Strategy: Meeting internal and external goals

  • Effectively track budget and performance to achieve sales volume goals and trade spend goals, including administration, record keeping, tracking and follow-up
  • Responsible for timely and effective communication of weekly and monthly reporting
  • Collaborate on customer presentations, develop/customize category plan-based selling stories regarding assortment, new items, pricing, promotions, display/merchandising tactics, analyses and plans
  • Assist with planogram execution for Dollar General ahead of annual resets

Win at Retail: Improving execution

  • Participate in the development of Customer Category Business Plan with Dollar General. Work with customer personnel to drive the execution of the customer category plan

Key Experiences: What experiences are key to success in this job?

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in retail sales preferred
  • Demonstrates a detailed understanding of sales fundamentals and reporting tools
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, strong presentation skills
  • Have good working knowledge of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry as well as channel of trade customer base in Grocery, Mass, Club, Value, and E-Commerce.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written, strong judgement in decision-making, good problem solving skills, thinks strategically, and customer service oriented
  • Doesn’t hesitate to act and takes the initiative to execute with minimal supervision
  • Challenges current processes, generating innovative suggestions that improve performance even beyond own role
  • Takes immediate action to problem or potential issues, ensuring partners are accurately communicated to about the potential impact
  • Able to influence without authority and prioritize tasks independently
  • Puts in persistent and if necessary, extra effort to accomplish goals and maintain a high level of efficiency
  • Seeks opportunities to collaborate and identify process improvements
