Job Description:

All of Southwest’s People come together to deliver on our Purpose; Connecting People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. This Project Specialist supports our Purpose by providing consultative project, product, and analysis resources for Southwest’s Customer use cases on Salesforce technologies. This role partners with various Customer Experience & Engagement, Digital, Customer Service, and Technology Teams to lead initiatives impacting both internal and external Customers. The Project Specialist is a strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset who looks forward to making a meaningful impact through end-to-end project management. 

 

Additional Details: 

  • This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is a limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming  

  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available

  • Job Summary
    • Responsible for managing smaller, lower complexity projects or specific deliverables on larger initiatives. Provide facilitation, support and coordination for projects and programs.
  • Responsibilities
    • Define simple project plans/roadmaps and execute tasks defined in project plan to achieve project goals using standard project management methodologies and practices
    • Work with team to breakdown work into smaller components or features and to identify critical path
    • Complete assigned and project tasks with minimal direction
    • Manage risk, action, issues and decisions log
    • Analyze impact of problems and facilitate resolution, and escalate to Leadership as needed
    • Prepare presentations & agendas, schedule meetings and record minutes for Project meetings
    • Partner, communicate, and build relationships to gather Customer and business requirements and communicate effectively with Project Team and support groups
    • Work with development teams to ensure work is completed as planned. Follow analytical methods for task execution/tracking and budget/timeline tracking
    • Assess project needs continually and resources to complete projects on time and within budget
    • Drive testing and acceptance of project results for smaller projects
    • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Proficient knowledge of project processes, problem management tools and procedures
    • Knowledge of Agile development practices and ceremonies
    • Knowledge of the interplay between technology applications and systems infrastructure
    • Knowledge of the impact a specific application has on operational and business functions
    • Skilled in strong Customer Service and Team orientation
    • Skilled in active listening, presenting, and facilitating team and stakeholder meetings
    • Ability to facilitate discussions to drive team and business customers toward decisions
    • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and accurately assess problem situations along with working effectively in a fast paced, collaborative, Team based environment
    • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks by scheduled completion date
    • Ability to demonstrate emerging Leadership skills to give direction to outside Contractors and maintain positive relationships with internal Customers
    • Preferred knowledge of Salesforce 
  • Education
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Required: Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in project management
  • Licensing/Certification
    • N/A
  • Physical Abilities
    • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
    • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Other Qualifications
    • Competitive market salary from $84,350 per year to $93,700 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
