Job Description:

Great News! External New Employees are eligible for a cash bonus! 

  • Sign-on Bonus: up to $2K* 

*Bonus is paid in the following increments within 30 days of the following milestones: 

  • $500 following 60 days employed 

  • $500 following 120 days employed 

  • $1000 following 365 days employed 

To receive the bonus, you must be employed with Discover at the time of payment. Stated bonus payouts are before taxes and deductions as applicable to you.  

Class Start Date: July 2023

Shift Requirements:

  • OH) START time of 8:00 AM EST
  • (UT) START time of 6:00 AM MDT
  • (AZ) START time of 5:00 AM MST

Note: Shifts are Monday- Friday with weekends as assigned

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll spend the majority of your shift on the phone (automatic dialer, inbound and outbound), speaking with delinquent customers, listening to their concerns, and providing them with the best solutions.  You’ll be a master problem solver!

  • Customer care is key- our approach to collections is about finding the right options for the customer by understanding their needs, and the options Discover has for them.

  • Working from home, you will need a quiet workspace so you can focus on our customers. You’ll also need a minimum of 5 MBPS up/download speed from your internet provider.

  • We’ll provide you with all the equipment you need! Monitors, computer, keyboard, mouse, headset, and an amazing new hire training experience. You’ll also have the best coaches to help you deliver the best service!

  • We’ll provide you with procedures and tools to handle our customer’s needs and strengthen their relationship with Discover.

Qualifications You Will Need to Succeed

The Basics:

  • 1+ years of experience in Collections, Customer Service or related field

  • Be reliable! We need you here to take care of our customers. Be committed to working your schedule.

  • Be resilient! You will need to be confident and have the ability to cope with rejection.

  • You will need to adhere to Fair Debt Collection and Practices law and the company’s Collection Practices policy.

A credit screening may be required for some roles within Discover Home Lending.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $18.00 to $23.58. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.

    I have over 18years experience in debt collection. Within that period I have worked for four institutions, The skills I have gained: customers retention, customer rehabilitation, good communication, query resolutions, compliance to the fair debt collection practices act. I have also been able to learn how to handle different debtors/creditors; debtors who are happy and debtors who may not be happy.

    My duties included; but not limited to following up on outstanding accounts; helping the payments department on suspense accounts. Requesting of refunds on behalf of clients. Performing basic administration tasks

    The offices I have worked for have always been busy where I would work a minimum of 60 accounts per day up to a call center where I used to handle over 120 calls a day. That has taught me patience, resilience; ability to multitask and it has also taught me the need to go an extra mile.
    I was attracted to this position because it matches my skill and experience.
